What is an routing instruction document?

A buyer will use an ANSI X12 754 document as a response to the suppliers EDI 753 document. The information included in the routing instructions gives approval for shipment and the necessary shipment information.

This document is in the ANSI X12 EDI standard, used in North America. There is no directly analogous EDIFACT document in the ISO standard which is used in Australia, Europe etc, with this information generally included in the ASN and PO/POA documents.
